The first Bolingbrook Park District building was a tiny, white farmhouse.

First homes in next wave of subdivisions. Indian Oaks, Winston Woods, Ivanhoe, Cherrywood, Cinnamon Creek.
Lockport West High School becomes Romeoville High School.
1972
First shopping center built - Route 53 at I-55.
First Bank built.
Second Village Hall (on East Boughton Road) built.
The Bolingbrook Park District passes a $2.2 million referendum for park land acquisition and development.

Jewel built.

Bolingbrook High School opens.
The site for Deatherage Center was acquired.
The facility was constructed in part with volunteer labor.
1975
The 20,300 square feet Community Center on Recreation Drive opened.
Library opens.
Old Chicago opens.
The Bolingbrook Park District acquired Winston Woods - a 42 acre Woodland Preserve.
1976
The Bolingbrook Athletic Council (BAC), a volunteer advisory committee, formed to coordinate field use and recommend improvements to the park district.
1979
First grocery store closes - Totura's.
Remington Boulevard built to attract industry.
The Joliet-Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association (JBSRA) formed to serve the special needs of individuals with disabilities.
1980
Third Village Hall built. Post Office built.
The Bolingbrook Park District received the National Gold Medal Award as best in nation.
A $3.4 million referendum for park improvements passed.
The Bolingbrook Health and Racquet Club opened.
1981
First funeral home opens at former Village Hall.
Boughton Ridge Golf Course, the first golf course in Bolingbrook, opens.
Old Chicago Amusement Park closes.
1982
The Bolingbrook Aquatic Center, the first indoor wave pool in the United States opened.
1983
East Boughton Road widened to 4 lanes.
1984
President Reagan speaks at Bolingbrook High School.
White Castle opens.
Mr. Quick becomes Family Square.
1986
Old Chicago Amusement Park torn down.
The Bolingbrook Park District surpassed 600 recreational, cultural and self-improvement programs offered annually.
1987
Industrial growth - Hartford Insurance, 3M, Arena Auto.
1988
The Bolingbrook Aquatic Center was acknowledged as a State tourist attraction.
Hidden Lakes was acquired by the park district with the aid of CorLands, a not-for-profit land bank. The site was eventually purchased in 1990. Pinecrest Road widened.
800 acre industrial annexation north of I-55.
The Dupage River Greenway bike path opened.
1989
Wood View Elementary recognized as one of the best in the nation.
Major industrial building south of I-55.
1990's
Bolingbrook gets its own Zip code - 60440.
Bolingbrook keeps making history as a suburban housing leader, along with major retail and industrial growth.
Cherrywood Park was rededicated as Lions Park.
The KOPS (Kids Organized in Playing Sports) program received the Illinois Outstanding Program Merit Award.
Bolingbrook Trojan Football won two National Championships in tackle football.
